Dishwasher Pods Calculator
Most people buy dishwasher pods by feel — grab a new box when the old one runs low. This calculator turns your actual dishwasher habits into real numbers: how many pods you use a year, how many packs that adds up to, and roughly how often you’ll need to reorder.

How we calculate this
- Runs per week (default)
- ENERGY STAR's own test methodology for dishwashers assumes 215 cycles a year (≈4.1/week) as the standard usage basis — a whole-household average, not scaled by household size the way the laundry calculator's per-person rate is. The runs-per-week field is what actually drives every number below, so change it to match your real usage. ENERGY STAR, "Dishwashers: Key Product Criteria".
- One pod per run
- We count one pod (or equivalent dose, however your product defines it) per dishwasher run. This is how "dose" is defined for this calculator, not an external claim.
- Pods per pack
- Defaults to 60, a common box size, purely as a placeholder. Pack sizes vary widely by brand and format, so there's no figure we could source that would be accurate for your product — replace it with the count printed on your own box.
Frequently asked questions
- Where does the default runs-per-week number come from?
- From ENERGY STAR's own dishwasher test methodology, which assumes 215 cycles a year for the average household. It's a starting point, not a measurement of your household — edit it to match your real usage.
- What if I use powder or gel instead of pods?
- Set "pods per pack" to however many doses your product's container holds — a powder box's stated load count, for instance — and the rest of the math works the same way.
